Import 3D Fuse character into Photoshop

Hi folks, This is just a bit more experimentation and I thought you may want to tag along. So in my last post I created a character in Adobe Fuse and failed to import it into DAZ Studio. However documentation suggested that I could import it into the 3D functionality of Adobe Photoshop. I looked around YouTube and found this good tutorial by Victoria Pavlov. So I thought that I

Adobe Fuse CC does not play nicely with DAZ Studio OR is it the other way around?

Hi all, Today I take a quick look at Adobe’s 3D character creation tool Fuse and how well it integrates with DAZ Studio. Brief answer: it doesn’t. First let me say that I am an Adobe fan. I love Photoshop and Premier and everything that can be done with them. When I saw Fuse appear in my CC app list I straight away wanted to find out what it was.

Mutterings about Luxrender shadows compared to Iray

Ignore the post’s header picture. It’s an oldy that I used because I had nothing relevant and because I felt a bit like a mushroom today as I typed away in semi gloom. Anyway, on to today’s post. Spent most of the day working on my management text book. In the background, however, I put a figure into a simplistic pose in DAZ Studio and played with renderers. Particularly, with

The paths through Venice: September 2015

This entry is part 16 of 20 in the series European Cavalcade

And so the saga continues, albeit well behind schedule! This is how I summarised on Facebook our first full day in Venice: “If possible we are even more tired. Another early start to see glass blowing (Rhiannon enjoyed this ☺ ) and then entry into San Marco basilica where I unfortunately could not take photos. Then we had 8 hours free time in Venice. We wandered extensively including Santa Maria de

Is seeing films at cinemas worth the price?

Last night I took my wife and daughter to the local Event cinema to see Captain America: Civil War. I loved the film but… Let’s see, where should I start? Price! Two adults and one child cost me $70 for the tickets alone. We did see it in VMAX. VMAX is supposedly a bigger and better screen, with better chairs and a better experience. Ummmmmm… Yes, the chairs were better

Just when I think I know where I am going...

A few days back I attended a course run by the Business Enterprise Centre in Southern Sydney. Heavily funded by the Government, the purpose of the purpose of the course was to help people like me figure out how to start up their businesses. Six hours later I walked away severely intimidated by the entire thing. This surprised me. After all, I have been in a senior management position in

"Encounter" created with DAZ Studio and Photoshop

Art is an intensely personal thing. Artists across several mediums abound among my WordPress pals, and each of us has our own flavour. For me this is something that makes our community so precious to me. I do my best to learn from you all. Today I give a bit back. This post is about my latest digital art with a focus on my design and thought process together with

My first graphics to hit an international publication

Hi all, :) This is just a brief bit of joy that I want to share with you. As you may remember from one of my earlier posts, I was working on building a 3D model of an X-Ray machine. Well, I incorporated the model into scenes that I created to help explain an abstract on the impact of radiation on the eyes of nurses in X-ray rooms. These  graphics are to be published in

Web site changes and starting again on the textbook

Hello my friends, A quick catchup. The eyes are healing and I can spend longer each day on the computer. Hence you may notice me starting to read and like your posts again. Slowly, slowly though. Saw the surgeon the other day and he was very pleased and we are still on track for stitches coming out in July. This has given me the confidence to work on the website

Changes coming - my future being planned

Consider this post a message to myself with you guys being interested parties. *** Where to now? It’s a question that I keep asking myself. My eyes are recovering well and the future beckons. But which future? A long time ago, back in the mid-1980s, my rich uncle visited Australia. He was a man who had started his career as a butcher’s boy and ended up on the Board of

Modelling a simple X-Ray machine in Blender

Hi all, as you know I am recovering from a cornea graft (transplant) as a result of Keratoconus. The pain is gone (albeit still sore from time to time, but I don’t consider that pain). My good(LOL) eye loses focus frequently (as it has done for a couple of years now). My operated-upon eye is still blurry but so much better than before the op. Nevertheless I have an obligation to meet.

Struggling back - insights of self

Hi folks, Today’s post is very introspective. Sorry.  It’s more a cathartic output for myself than a post for others. Once upon a time I leapt of a cliff into deep water. I did so to prove to myself that I can overcome fear – in this case my fear of heights. The drop happened faster than I had imagined. In fact, it was not so bad. But then I

Finally trying Iray for DAZStudio 4.9

Hi folks, Yep, still busily working on novel. But I find that without my forays into art I feel empty. Yes, I need both writing and visual art. So I figured that I would play a little in DAZ Studio. This was frustrated for a week when my PostgreSQL database (the thing that manages all my content in DAZ) decided suddenly not to work. Stupid message about not being able

Writing, writing, writing

Hi folks, This is just a brief catch up. Since my last post I have been getting up each morning and writing. Admittedly, first I throw a photo up on Instagram. Looking at a photo from an exciting adventure in my past tends to brighten my day. The entire beginning of the novel has been rewritten. Ten thousand new words! The secondary plot has really expanded into something that I

Back at last!

It has not been a good three weeks for me. No, not at all. But I will endeavour not to make this post all doom and gloom. :) My final day at work (29 January) was special in many ways. The amount of affection coming my way from my colleagues was stunning. So were the number of hugs. :) A lot of people felt that my role should not have

How computer games improved my team work

Hi all, As I prepare to leave my workplace, so I find myself going through the files on my work computer. Some I place on our document management system so that those that come after me will have some idea of the work that I have done. Others I delete as nothing more than working papers. Then there are things like that I found today: a speech. For a short while

Apologies... and into Venice

This entry is part 15 of 20 in the series European Cavalcade

Hi all, Firstly an apology for my neglect in recent weeks, especially the past fortnight or so. With my final date due to redundancy rapidly approaching (Friday 29 January) I find myself focusing on setting myself up for the future. Alas maintaining this blog or reading other blogs is way down at the bottom of my list of my current priorities. Sorry. :( Interestingly I had coffee today with a friend

Review - The Shannara Chronicles - Chosen

The advertising was very persuasive. The cinematography on the advertisements blew me away. And Terry Brooks’ books had been favourites of mine as a teenager. I can remember reading Sword of Shannara in the library and then going out and buying Elfstones the moment that it was published (1982?). But still there was lingering doubt. I still remember the appalling mess that was the 2004 mini series based upon A

To write a new text book - Promote team effectiveness

Some of you may remember that toward the beginning of this century I wrote two management text books. With my redundancy rapidly approaching (29 January) I contacted my old publishers (Software Publications). I had been working on a new textbook for them a few years back before my last eye infection sent me blind for a couple of months and subsequent eye issues kept me from doing much other than my

Future - a post where I discuss my way forward

Yep – another self-indulgent post! Anyway, sorry folks for not posting for a week. Since signing my redundancy I have had much to dwell upon. Also, my daughter has taken over my computer – installing SimCity and The Sims upon it. Hmmmmmmmm. Not happy. :( And I have seen the latest Star Wars film. Very happy. :) Don’t worry, this is all I am saying on that. Anyway, I’ve been
