Truth be told, I found little entertainment in the first two films of the DC Extended Universe. I will probably get some hate for expressing that. Thing is, the original comics and the animated series and movies were just so much better in respect to story. Sure, the effort put into the graphics was great but the writing was plain abominable. I still cannot get over the “Martha” part of Batman versus Superman. And overall, they were so bleak.
Then there were the critics of Suicide Squad: there were a lot of them. Here is the link to what Rotten Tomatoes has to say. Very negative, eh?
So I figured that if the previous two films had been pretty average (in my opinion) and that if everyone seemed to dismiss this film… well, why rush into seeing it?
I was wrong.
My family were visiting friends last night and the hosts invited us to watch Suicide Squad on Blue-ray. Sure, we said. Why not?
And I liked it. I really liked it.
Why?
Because it felt like a comic turned into a film. Many characters were puerile (childish) but that seemed to fit. Indeed, I felt that it added humour to the film, a fitting counterpoint to the deadly action and bleak

I agree, Greg. I thought Suicide Squad was a lot of fun and, so far, the best of the DC Extended Universe films. I haven’t decided if I liked it enough to buy my own copy, but I’m definitely seeing it again and will make a decision at that point.
