Hopefully I will find such a group. There is one local one but it costs and I am unemployed at present

The Inklings IIRC were a group of university professors. Maybe you could find some sort of a writing club in a local college/uni (the philology department).

I cannot say whether all were uni professors, but many were. It was an informal group that met in a local Oxford pub. Alas I have found a local group but they require paid membership and until I am employed again that is impossible

JRRT and CSL were, and that’s what counts I guess =D
Boo! This is unfair. What if you start a group of your own? Find interested people in your area via facebook or something like that.
